-3 fatty acids have been tested for the treatment of cancer
anorexia/weight loss, a syndrome that predicts a poor prognosis among cancer
patients with incurable disease. This review focuses on both the preclinical
and clinical data of -3 fatty acids for treating this syndrome.
Overall, the promise of the former does not seem to be borne out completely in
the latter. This review includes a discussion of how these data might be
interpreted and explained to cancer patients who are striving to cope with
this syndrome.
