Is Tube Feeding an Option in Patients With Liver Disease?Division of Gastroenterology, Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri Correspondence: Correspondence: Jeffrey S. Crippin, MD, 660 South Euclid, Campus Box 8124, St. Louis, MO 63110. Electronic mail may be sent to jcrippin{at}wustl.edu. Tube feeding in patients with liver disease is often approached with trepidation because of fears of bleeding with tube placement due to the presence of esophageal varices or coagulopathy. However, the amount of published data supporting these fears is limited. This manuscript examines the issues surrounding tube feedings in patients with liver disease.
